It depends on driving preference. The automatic (€57/day) is more comfortable in Marrakech city traffic and on long flat stretches. The manual (€47/day) gives better control on steep mountain descents and is more fuel-efficient. Both are equally capable off-road.
Yes. The Duster automatic handles the 560km route to Merzouga (Erg Chebbi) without any issues. The entire route is paved. Automatic transmission makes the long drive more comfortable. We recommend filling up whenever you pass a petrol station on the Ouarzazate–Erfoud stretch.
Our Dacia Duster automatic is a full 4x4 with switchable drive modes (2WD for tarmac, 4WD auto for mixed terrain, 4WD lock for sand/mud). This is the same 4x4 system as the manual version.
