Most rental companies will not tell you this, because it costs them a day of hire: for part of your stay, you may not want the car at all. Here is how central Marrakech actually works.
The old walled city is a pedestrian labyrinth. Many lanes are too narrow for a vehicle, and the ones that are passable fill with carts, scooters and people. If your riad is inside the walls, you will park outside it — typically at one of the lots near Bab Doukkala, Bab Laksour or the Jemaa el-Fna underground car park — and walk or take a porter the last few hundred metres. We deliver to the nearest accessible gate to your riad and tell you exactly which one before you arrive.
The new town is a normal grid with wide boulevards and proper parking. Most hotels in Guéliz and Hivernage have their own car park or a reserved stretch of street. Driving here is genuinely easy; the only adjustment for European visitors is the density of scooters and the fact that roundabout priority is negotiated more than signalled.
Almost every street and public car park in Marrakech has an informal attendant in a high-visibility vest who watches parked cars. This is normal and expected, not a scam. The customary rate is around 5 to 10 MAD for a few hours, or 20 MAD overnight, paid when you return to the car. Keep small notes and coins in the door pocket for exactly this. A car left with a gardien is, in practice, well looked after.
We deliver anywhere in central Marrakech at the time you choose, seven days a week, at no charge. Morning delivery between 08:00 and 10:00 is the most popular slot because it lines up with riad check-out and gets you clear of the city before the midday traffic. Give us the hotel or riad name and we will confirm the precise meeting point — for Médina addresses that is usually the closest gate a car can reach.
Spend the first days in the Médina on foot, then take delivery of the car on the morning you leave for the mountains, the coast or the desert. You pay for the days you actually use, and you skip the one genuinely frustrating part of driving in Marrakech. This is the main difference from international brands, which apply a premium-location surcharge of 20–30% to airport collections and often a separate delivery fee for city addresses.
Guéliz and Hivernage are the easiest, because they have proper roads and hotel parking, and you can leave the city without crossing the old town. The Palmeraie and Agdal are equally simple and we deliver to villas and resorts there directly. If you are staying inside the Médina, the neighbourhood itself does not matter much — you will meet the car at the nearest accessible gate either way, and we confirm which one before delivery.
Yes. Free delivery covers Marrakech-Guéliz railway station and the Supratours and CTM coach terminals, which is convenient if you are arriving overland from Casablanca, Fès or Agadir. Give us your arrival time and train or coach number when booking.
