Fuel is cheapest away from the airport; the stations along the Route de Safi and in Guéliz are a better first stop than the terminal forecourt.

For the Médina itself you do not need a car — the old town is walkable and largely closed to traffic, and parking around it is limited. A car earns its place the moment you leave the city: Essaouira, the Ourika Valley, the Agafay desert, Aït Benhaddou and the Atlas passes are all day trips that are awkward and expensive by taxi or organised tour. Many customers collect at the airport only if they are heading straight out, and otherwise take delivery in the city on the day their road trip starts.
